Doç. Dr. Vahap Ozan Kotan, lise eğitimini Ankara Fen Lisesi'nde, lisans eğitimini Hacettepe Üniversitesi İngilizce Tıp Fakültesi'nde, psikiyatri ihtisasını Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Ruh Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı'nda tamamlamış, İzmir Odağ Psikanaliz ve Psikoterapi Derneği'nde Psikoterapi eğitimi almıştır. Mecburi hizmetini Konya Seydişehir Devlet Hastanesi’nde yaptıktan sonra Ankara Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi’nde başasistan kadrosunda AMATEM klinik sorumlusu ve konsültasyon-liyezon psikiyatrisi sorumlusu olarak toplam 3 yıl, ardından Başkent Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi Psikiyatri Kliniği’nde yardımcı doçent kadrosunda 3 yıl çalışmıştır. 25.09.2018 tarihinde doçent unvanı almaya hak kazanması ardından İsveç’de bulunan Uppsala Akademiska Sjukhuset Psykiatri kliniğinde yaklaşık 1 yıl çalışmıştır. Mart 2020’den bu yana Ankara’da serbest psikiyatrist olarak çalışmaktadır. İyi derecede İngilizce ve orta derecede İsveççe bilmektedir. Birçok eğitim, sertifika programı, toplantılara katılmış olup ayrıca konuşmacı, koordinatör ve eğitimci olarak görevler almış ve almaya devam etmektedir. Türkiye Psikiyatri Derneği (2004 - Halen) Türk Biyolojik Psikiyatri Derneği (2005 - Halen) İzmir Odağ Psikanaliz ve Psikoterapi Derneği (2005 - Halen) Ankara Çağdaş Psikanalitik Psikoterapiler Derneği (2013-2021) Türkiye Psikiyatri Derneği Psikanalitik Psikoterapiler Çalışma Birimi (2013 - Halen) Türkiye Psikiyatri Derneği Nöropsikanaliz Çalışma Birimi (2018 - Halen) gibi kurum ve derneklerde görevler almış ve üyelikleri bulunmaktadır. Mesleki çalışmalarına kendi ofisinde devam etmektedir.
